Smart IP
Smart IP is a client-server software product that allows users to maintain networked applications through coverage gaps, network disconnects/reconnects, during voice call interruptions and when moving through different networks.
For example, an employee might use GPRS / EDGE when roaming during the day, hot-spots when available and an Ethernet connection at the office or at home. These different connectivity options normally have different security needs, including authentication mechanisms and firewall configurations.
Smart IP can manage a variety of possible connections for the device, automatically switching between networks according to customer rules in order to minimize costs and maximize coverage and performance. This is done without end user intervention – Smart IP automatically initiates, authenticates and terminates connections, detects the presence of high-speed connections, detects the loss of coverage on a low-speed connection, and minimizes connection time on networks that charge per minute. Smart IP also optimizes the network communications, improving productivity through faster response times, minimizing network costs and maximizing battery life.
