| Dublin, Ireland - 15th January 2004 - MobileAware, an industry leader in delivering Internet content to mobile devices, today announced that the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has issued a new standard for mobile device management. MobileAware's Chief Innovations Architect, Dr Rotan Hanrahan, is a member of the Device Independence Working Group that authored the standard known as Composite Capability/Preference Profiles (CC/PP): Structure and Vocabularies. Official Recommendations adopted by the W3C, an organization whose members include IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems, and NTT DoCoMo, are treated as standards throughout the software industry. The CC/PP standard will unify the process by which mobile devices identify capabilities and user preferences to a network. This "delivery context" information will greatly simplify the process of adapting Internet content for mobile devices. The adoption of CC/PP by device manufacturers and network equipment vendors will greatly enhance the quality of mobile content and services. "This is a significant leap forward for the mobile industry and a validation of MobileAware's thought leadership in this space," said Brian Kinane, MobileAware's Chief Technology Officer. "CC/PP is a key feature of our mobility software products. Market adoption of the CC/PP standard will enable more precise 'repurposing' of Internet content for an increasingly diverse range of mobile devices, which will greatly enhance the user's experience. MobileAware is proud of its significant role in developing this standard and I applaud the W3C for its industry leadership."
