3GSM World Congress, Barcelona, Spain, 13 February 2006
- MobileAware, the world leader in enabling the creation
and delivery of mobile data services, today announced global market
success with channel partner Ericsson. Mobile operators including
Telstra, Singtel, Mobitel, China Telecom, Digicel and mCel are using
Ericsson’s integrated suite of Service Layer solutions to
capture new data revenues through the delivery of high-value consumer
services such as music downloads, videos, news and sport. MobileAware
is a key component of Ericsson’s Service Layer solutions,
providing the device recognition and content adaptation technology
to enable optimized data services to be delivered over any network
to any mobile device. MobileAware is also part of Ericsson’s
latest network offering – the integration of IP Multimedia
Subsystem (IMS) based applications with the Ericsson Service Delivery
Platform – which will be demonstrated for the first time ever
at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. Ericsson Service Layer solutions couple service development and management facilities with standards-based architecture to enable operators and third-party content providers to come together to create and deliver valuable consumer services. Operators have used Ericsson’s Service Layer solutions in a range of different deployments, including Australia's largest telecommunications operator, Telstra. Telstra successfully deployed a robust content download platform, known as ‘Telstra Active’, that relies on MobileAware technology to manage the branding and presentation of third-party content feeds to any mobile device. MobileAware also provides the provisioning adaptors to manage the delivery of multiple content types such as DRM-encoded video and music clips, streaming links, games and binary content. MobileAware is also part of Ericsson’s China Market Portal Solution, a customized service development and management services solution specifically designed for operators in China to bring to market content and applications over 2.5G and 3G networks. “In China we face a fierce competitive environment and partners such as MobileAware are very important for Ericsson's solution offering, value add and differentiation,” commented Gabriela Styf Sjoman, General Manager, Service Layer and Systems Integration at Ericsson China. “As consumer demands grow and usability becomes more crucial, device rendering is key to launching value added services. We are very happy to have a close co-operation with MobileAware and jointly we will continue to bring to market solutions that add value to operators as well as consumers.” At 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Ericsson will demonstrate how operators can create new revenue streams and increase cost efficiency by introducing IMS-based applications integrated with the Ericsson Service Delivery Platform. The demonstration will show how new IMS services can interwork with existing telecommunication networks, allowing operators to offer richer communications and media services that address both mobile and wireline networks in a fully converged solution. MobileAware and BEA WebLogic Portal will provide the service discovery functionality. “Ericsson is the world’s leading provider of carrier-class services that enable operators to offer rich communication and media services more efficiently,” commented Kevin McCloskey, CEO at MobileAware. “We are proud that our technology forms a vital component of Ericsson’s Service Layer solutions and we will continue to work closely with them to extend their portfolio of solution offerings to global operators.” About Ericsson Service Layer Solutions About MobileAware For further information, please contact: Niamh Murphy |
