MobileAware Presents Strategies for Managing Device Diversity at Mobile Web Americas

MobileAware’s Chief Innovations Architect Featured Speaker at Leading Industry Event

DUBLIN, Ireland – October 2, 2007 -MobileAware, the world’s leading provider of Mobile Service Infrastructure, today announced that it will outline key strategies for managing device diversity to ensure optimized end-user mobile experiences at the Mobile Web Americas conference in Orlando, Florida, on October 2-4. Mobile Web Americas will bring together industry experts from around the world to discuss various approaches to improve and capitalize on the rapidly expanding Mobile Web market. Dr. Rotan Hanrahan, Chief Innovations Architect at MobileAware, will discuss the challenges created by device diversity and explain how to create and make use of device descriptions to maximize the Mobile Web experience.

Dr. Hanrahan will highlight the technical challenges faced by adaptation systems and reveal a spectrum of solutions to address these issues. Throughout his presentation he will share his in-depth knowledge of content adaptation and expertise gained from MobileAware’s extensive deployments with world leading operators and enterprises. He will also provide an insight into mobile community efforts, such as those in the W3C, to alert the audience to the ways that they can influence the future of the Mobile Web.

"Device diversity represents one of the biggest challenges to the adoption of the Mobile Web,” commented Dr. Rotan Hanrahan, Chief Innovations Architect at MobileAware. “Each new feature, updated capability or extended attribute is another variation in the delivery context that must be addressed by content and service providers. To operate in such a rapidly changing environment and take advantage of the significant opportunities presented by the Mobile Web, organizations require proven adaptation solutions that constantly keep up-to-date with the properties of new devices"

MobileAware has played a leadership role in the W3C since 2000 and is a founding sponsor of the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI), which aims to make Web access from a mobile device as simple and convenient as Web access from a desktop device. MobileAware is represented within W3C by Dr Rotan Hanrahan, who is Chair of the Device Description Working Group, is a member of the recently formed Ubiquitous Web Applications Working Group and is also a member of the MWI Steering Council and W3C Advisory Committee.
