Milestone deliverable from group chaired by MobileAware. DUBLIN, Ireland - April 9, 2008 -MobileAware, a leading provider of Mobile Customer and Employee Self Service solutions, today welcomed the publication by the W3C of a draft specification for an interface to repositories of device information. The "DDR Simple API" is an important milestone of the Device Description Working Group (DDWG). The new technology will enable interoperable language-neutral access to characteristics of mobile Web-enabled devices. This information is critical to adaptive technology, and has previously only been accessible through proprietary interfaces. A simple standard interface will help many more content and service suppliers to join the Mobile Web, and will provide a standards-oriented upgrade path to professional multi-channel Web solutions. Speaking shortly after the publication MobileAware's Chief Innovations Architect, Dr Rotan Hanrahan, chair of the DDWG commented: "this is the result of intensive cooperation among industry partners and we look forward to wide support for the technology," adding that "it is an important pillar of the Mobile Web Initiative, which we have long supported." The new API will appear in future MobileAware products, subject to final ratification by the W3C. About MobileAware Media Contacts : Marketing Department |
