BEA Systems, Documentum, and MobileAware Announce End-to-End Integration for Mobile Content Delivery Solution

3GSM World Congress, Cannes, France- Feb. 23, 2004 - BEA Systems (Nasdaq: BEAS), Documentum, a division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), and MobileAware today announced an integrated product set for mobile content delivery which can enable consumers to use their mobile phones to order and purchase online content and downloadable multimedia. In addition, the content delivery suite is designed to manage the acquisition of internal and third party content and the provisioning of that content to different customer market segments.

"The integrated product set can enable mobile operators to deploy a highly personalized system for marketing content to consumers," said Brian Kinane, chief technology officer, MobileAware. "This type of system can help operators achieve much greater sophistication in terms of segmentation of content and customers."

The key advantage of the suite is that it is designed to incorporate the strengths of proven enterprise software to deliver a scalable, fully integrated out-of-the-box solution. The integrated products are a combination of MobileAware’s Mobile Interaction Server Version 3.2, BEA WebLogic Platform™ 8.1 and the Documentum 5 Enterprise Content Management platform, all running on Intel-based servers. The combined product set can enable mobile operators, content aggregators and system integrators to rapidly deploy the product set and customize the functionality to meet their requirements.

"Documentum is delighted to work with MobileAware and BEA in providing the next generation of dynamic, multi-channel, content delivery solutions," said Matt Shanahan, vice president, Global Industries Group of Documentum. "We believe Documentum Version 5 can provide the essential tools to manage the entire content lifecycle, from content provider to consumer."

Key benefits of the mobile content delivery include:

Attracting new subscribers through enhanced content discovery.
Maximizing subscriber revenue through provision of high-value targeted content.
Optimizing customer experience through multi-device color portal.
Proactively assuring quality of content services.
Reducing customer management costs through mobile self-care.
"Mobile content delivery is a great example of how the WebLogic Service Delivery framework and partner program can be applied to reduce the capital, time to market, and operational costs of operator service platforms," said Rick Jackson, senior vice president, product marketing, BEA Systems.

BEA WebLogic JRockit™, the first Java Virtual Machine (JVM) optimized for the Intel® Itanium® 2 processor and the Intel® Xeon™ processor family, supports the content delivery suite with reliability, scalability and very attractive price and performance. At 3GSM, Sony Music will provide a range of mobile-optimized multimedia content as part of the demonstration of the content delivery suite.
