Hong Kong, 4 December 2006 – MobileAware, the world’s leading provider of Mobile Service Infrastructure and founding sponsor of the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI), will today speak at Asia’s largest mobility conference, 3G World Congress and Mobility Marketplace. The four-day event, which takes place in Hong Kong from 4 – 7 December, will explore the latest developments and market opportunities in 3G and emerging wireless broadband technologies for the consumer and enterprise markets. Mr. Kirk Tang, Director Asia-Pacific at MobileAware, will deliver an address entitled ‘Embracing Device Diversity’ at an MWI Seminar on new trends in mobile Web access. The seminar will be chaired by MWI Leader, Philipp Hoschka, and aims to further the MWI mission of educating operators, content developers and handset manufacturers on how best to use mobile Web standards to create interoperable mobile Web services. "MobileAware is leading an activity within the MWI to create technology to enable the sharing of device capability information," explains MobileAware's Kirk Tang. "This recently proposed Web technology will make basic content adaptation a viable option for content authors worldwide, greatly increasing the scope of content and services on the mobile Web, and offering a clear path towards professional mobile Web solutions such as those offered by MobileAware." To service the demand for consumer mobile services and enterprise mobility solutions in Asia, MobileAware opened its regional headquarters in Beijing in January 2005 and has since grown its customer base to include some of Asia’s leading operators and enterprises. Operators using MobileAware technology to deliver a wide range of consumer data services include SingTel, China Unicom and Chunghwa Telecom. The world’s largest mobile operator, China Mobile, recently deployed a mobile enterprise portal across multiple provinces to over 6,000 employees, and also uses MobileAware to extend its web-based customer self-service functionality to mobile devices. The Singapore Ministry of Defence has deployed MobileAware technology to power a multi-channel citizen self-service portal that enables citizens to access details of compulsory military service from any mobile device. "People could access the Web at all times and in all situations, thanks to mobile devices, but Web sites aren't always ready for the diverse range of devices," explains Philipp Hoschka, Mobile Web Initiative Leader. "W3C's Mobile Web Initiative has already produced concrete results to help developers make their Web sites accessible to mobile devices. This seminar gives a valuable opportunity to discuss those results and state of the art techniques."
