The MobileAware Device Repository stores detailed Device Profiles containing hundreds of attributes for thousands of devices.
When a device makes a request, its header information is extracted and matched against the stored information in the database to find the best match. In this way, content can be optimally transformed for the device based on its profiled capabilities.
The hierarchical nature of the repository is such that, should a new, unprofiled device be encountered – the device matching algorithm will traverse the repository to find the best match, and ensure that compatible – if not optimized – content is delivered to the device.
The MobileAware Device Repository stores detailed Device Profiles containing hundreds of attributes for thousands of devices. Capable of being deployed into a shared filesystem, or into a wide range of databases, the device repository is updated weekly by MobileAware to ensure excellent market coverage.
The Device Repository is used by Mobile Interaction Server and Mobile Content Proxy
for all aspects of device recognition and content transformation –
and can be queried by applications through a number of open APIs including
a standard JSR-188 CC/PP interface and the W3C DDR Simple API.
